Outdoor Fresh Farm

You can play a role in sustaining more than 200 farms, gardens and orchards now through Giving Tuesday – November 29, by donating to Food Well Alliance. Every dollar donated – up $15,000 – will be matched by our board to for growers like Lelo Jones, owner of Outdoor Fresh Farm.

Every farm and garden we visit is unique, but there isn’t any growing space quite like Lelo Jones’ Outdoor Fresh Farm. Tall sunflowers, just as bright and cheery as Lelo himself, greet you at the entrance along with his two goats named Poncho and Night Night.

Lelo uses his space to teach the community about growing food using his unique blend of education and entertainment. His edutainment approach combines the old school with the new school so younger generations learn in a way that is both engaging and relevant. He shares his knowledge with others by teaching elementary students where their food comes from. “I take them outside to plant tomatoes, green onions, and garlic, and they’re able to taste them fresh for the first time.”

Lelo says he definitely wouldn’t be as far along without Food Well Alliance and the grants he has received. “They enable me to get the resources I need to grow as fast as I have grown and give me the relief to try new ways of doing things.” He wants to continue to share his knowledge and make growing cool. “It’s donors like you that make our dreams possible and help us spread the mission, knowledge, and edutainment.”
