Sometimes I go through my external hard drives looking at past shoots. I'm not sure if I am tracking my development over the years or if I'm looking to be inspired. Occasionally, in doing so I come cross a hidden gem. A shot so beautiful I wonder how I let it be locked up so long without being seen. I shot this image almost nine years ago. The beauty of photography is that regardless of how much time passes, what was beautiful then is still beautiful now. Beauty is timeless and so is portrait. Who wants to create something timeless?

I’ve purposefully tried to be pretty disciplined with not mixing one platform with the other. My FB and IG are different. Just like movies and songs are different, so too it is images or as I see it, genres, and everything is not meant for all audiences. To me though, it all comes from the same source. All of the images are my creations. I put forth the same level of energy every time I pick up the camera because the by-product has my name on it. Regardless of the genre I want it to be known that I created. The lighting, composition, pose, and clarity are all mine. In keeping in that spirit I decided to publish a book “The Beautiful Ones Collection”, a collection of some my best bo***ir images and very soon will be launching a bo***ir photography business. I chose this image for the cover because of the slight bow she gives. Just a subtle tip of the hat. Most people do it after the performance is over. I start out with the bow because I know you’ll thank me later.

Rejection is part of life. Regardless of how talented you feel you are you will have to face it some time or another. A few years back I had the opportunity to shoot images for R&B singer Case's come back album. I don't know what the name of it was, but they didn't go with my images. It was rejection for me, but not in the negative sense. Sometimes your stuff isn't for every project. At the end day I knew I produced good work, but it just wasn't chosen. It was great experience for me though. He was cool, and got to shoot concert.

Everyone has a look. Getting someone that you have never met before to give you that look is a whole different story. Somewhere in finding a great location, setting up lights, posing, and composing a shot you have to convince that stranger to look into a camera and act natural. It's a very strange process, but when it works you just smile and move on to the next idea.
