Growth only happens when you give up something for another thing of greater importance. This can look like sacrificing a night out with friends for a full night of sleep, or sacrificing your phone time for reading a book. Whatever it is you want to work One Percent Harder at, will require some kind of sacrifice. Start today, sacrifice a little bit of time to work on your One Percent. Keep showing up, and see the growth accumulate!

I wanted to share some photos from the past couple months at OPH club Wheeler. Soon we will be sharing some videos of some of the students’ One Percents on the page.

We have students creating and pursuing new goals and staying consistent with some old ones. We have had students volunteer to speak about certian topics. We have laughed and cried. This group of students have grown so much over the past couple months and I can’t wait to see the progress through next May as some continue at Wheeler and many move on to college.

There have been times I have been so desperate to change the people around me to follow the same path I was walking, that I had lost myself trying to force someone to be something they didn’t want to be. I realized you have to surround yourself with people who want to go down the same path as you.

Another quote that I love that follows this same idea is “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” - Jim Rhon.

I am still learning everyday and I am not perfect, but this quote encapsulates one of the steps I am taking to work one percent harder everyday to get better at. Surround myself with people who make me better.

Remember to enjoy the process of improvement! Improving is hard and it takes, focus, dedication, and hard work to get better at something. When you are in the process of growing you are likely to get growing pains, you want to quit, you complain, you want to make every excuse to not do something that is hard. This is natural, but look back at how far you have come and appreciate the hard work you put into becoming the best version of yourself. Keep growing this year into the person you should look up to… Yourself in 10 years.
