Staying Cool in Extreme Heat
With temperatures and humidity remaining high, it's important to take steps to protect yourself and others from heat-related illnesses.
Below are some ways to stay cool and protect yourself during the extreme heat:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day and take frequent breaks if you must work outside.
Never leave children, older adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle.
Check on neighbors, friends, and family members, especially older adults and those with medical conditions.
Know the signs of heat-related illness, including heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, or fainting. If you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
Let's work together to keep our community safe. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another!
