Summer camps are good for several things.
Perhaps most important is introducing rising freshmen to high school basketball and melding a team with recently departed seniors.
Coming off of their fourth consecutive trip to the “Glass House,” the McMinn Central Chargerettes have begun their summer with several new faces. Pairing All-State honoree Malea Masingale with fellow senior Lilly Woodruff, who comes to Englewood after scoring well over 1,000 points in three seasons at Sweetwater, Central also welcomed eight talented freshmen that will see varsity time early in their careers.
Second year head coach Dakota Stone and the Chargerettes have begun the summer 5-1, with their only loss to expected Class 4A state tournament team Cleveland.
