As we’re now past Christmas, the New Year is right around the corner. This can be a popular time to reflect on the past year and set some goals for 2025. Here are some tips to make sure you’re able to stick with those goals past January 10th:
1. Know your why
Sticking with a goal takes dedication and persistence. On the hard days, you’ll need to know why this goal is important to you to keep going.
2. Align with your Long-Term Goals
Do you have a vision of where you want to be in 5 or 10 years? Take the time to dream what that blocks like and then set your annual goals to be what’s needed to get you there.
3. Break it down to bite size
Focusing on a big goal can be intimidating. Try to break it down into more manageable steps that you can do each day.
4. Don’t Do it Alone
It’s a lot harder to make zero progress on a goal when you know someone else is going to ask you about it. If you’re married, you should be creating financial goals together with your spouse. If you’re single, find a friend or family member to help hold you accountable.

There’s a multitude of gifts that are used for the first week, but then begin to collect dust. Why not give the gift of an experience this year. Below are a few of the advantages to experiential gifts versus material:
1. It doesn’t clutter your house
Plenty of gifts end up just taking more space in your kids’ toy room, on your shelves, or in your garage. It’s one more thing to have to clean up. An experiential gift, doesn’t have to take up any more precious space in your home.
2. Gifts can adjust to your budget
Experiential gifts can range in price anywhere from concert tickets to some odds and end supplies for a snowman kit. Really, the gift can be whatever you want it to be and whatever price range you want it to be.
3. It can strengthen your relationship
A study by Wharton Behavioral Lab showed that experiential gifts led to a greater increase in relational strength between the recipient and giver than material gifts. The gift giver didn’t even need to be present at the experience.
4. It can invoke a greater emotional response
That same study also showed that experiential gifts also evokes more emotion than material gifts. When you give an experiential gift, your giving memories.
