We are cleaning Stator Air-Cooling Ventilation Channels with the Rotor in Place on a 1913 Hydroelectric Generator. This is a view from the inspection window.

Clogged ventilation channels are the leading cause of overheating. The rule of thumb is for every 10°C over recommended running temperature will reduce winding life by 50%.
