PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, AND THE PATH THROUGH — integrated movement llc 07/09/2026

PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, AND THE PATH THROUGH — integrated movement llc Driving back from a clinic in Tennessee recently, I found myself doing something I’ve actually done on long highway drives for years – looking at the rock faces along the road cuts and wondering about the plants growing out of them. My whole life I’ve noticed these towering walls of stone blas...

The brain and nervous system have everything to do with how we move and how we ride. After 15 plus years working with horses, the last 6 years have been spent diving deeply into working with riders. Studying applied neurology and the Feldenkrais® Method, I’ve built workshops around exactly that intersection, and I keep refining them because the material is rich and the applications for riders are deep. Falls, accidents, concussions, accumulated stress — these experiences leave real impressions on the nervous system that show up as anxiety, bracing, and patterns that more riding or more instruction don’t always reach. For a lot of riders, this turns out to be a missing piece, and interestingly I have seen some of the most profound changes in the horses come once we actually help the rider.

Wanting to make the work as available as possible, the most recent iterations of the workshop were built to be fully accessible over Zoom, as well as in person. They run 4.5 hours ( although they have been known to run a little longer ) and you receive all the educational material by email before the class. After the workshop there are short videos and more follow up info and support.

The workshops we meant to help people begin to experience both of these amazing methods and see how they relate directly for equestrians.

Between mid September and Mid December I have a handful of weekend dates that are available to schedule a workshop. If you are curious to learn more and get more details reach out, I’m happy to chat.

After a great Awareness Through Movement™️ lesson last night on Zoom, we had a interesting discussion around the concepts of body mapping, and the self image. And it really got me thinking more and more on how this idea of predictive processing in the brain, the self image, and threat or fear around movement are deeply connected. Since I work with so many equestrians, it is interesting to start to put these pieces together in relationship to how we show up as riders for our horses. And how a method like Feldenenkrias can have such powerful and deep ramifications for riders. Slowly working on developing more research in this area specifically related to equestrians, but in the meantime if you're curious if this work could be useful to you, I'm looking to open another series of introductory Awareness Through Movement lessons over Zoom in June. Details to come, but if your interested send me a message.
