I can tell the creators of this film put so much love into making sure that this felt like a faithful chapter in Moana’s story. Barlow & Bear have written some beautiful songs that fit perfectly into this world. Part of me wishes they were given a bit more freedom to expand the musical language and style of the film because at times it feels like they’re mimicking Lin Manuel Miranda. As in the first instalment, it’s awesome to hear talent from across the Pacific bringing their authentic voices to really make this movie magical.
