We broke the mold again.
This is the 50th Anniversary edition of The Current. I couldn’t be more proud of these students. Rebekah Higgins, Andrew Terry, and my two FIRST SEMESTER design students (Kamden Slough) and (Faith Chamberlain). Remember those names because they’re coming at ya, designers. As always, Jill and Madissun keep it rolling’.
They also commissioned a revise of the attached 1930 type (aka, WT Manifest by myself) for an A. ;)

Swapping fonts again. But this time it’s for a publication. I could only get the essentials and caps in 1.5 chopped up days. But you haven’t seen the last of this guy. Manifest, it shall be called.

In progress. Capitals and connections.

Though the original font was created as a display face, the cuts and jagged edges remain legible at moderate sized text. Don’t go setting a book in it, but the versatility of the font has skyrocketed. Link in bio. Use code INSTAVATE for 50% off.

Working on a family crest because I’m burnt out on my current projects.
Family or peeps out there, chime in.
What have I missed? I can’t tell the whole story but wanna get it right for at least our branch. The “to the law and the king” is to be interpreted as you wish, but I’d prefer something different.

A few shapes from Morris. Most of my library is now available on FontSpring. That means you can get individual styles where that is an option.

Get some silly, stuffy, quirky, quality fonts. You’ll get my whole library of fonts, plus the unreleased ones, for $250. For 2, maybe 3 days. Link in bio.
Once it’s done, it’s done.
This includes all the fonts listed on my website, plus a few others listed that are in development, which you’ll get the full version of later on, including:
Mechanix
Kala
River Ranch Pro
Fiesta
Olympia

New font release and huge discount.
Tutorial is an oddball in that I can’t identify any particular influence…I was literally giving a type design workshop and just finished what I started.
It’s a fun and wonky font.
Use code Tutorialinsta at checkout for 70% off through Monday.

I prolly need to focus on getting one font DONE at a time.
My mind wanders.

My version of the Base font. Wasn’t intentional. I was using it to show students how to extrapolate type DNA from found lettering. But that font is so ingrained in my design brain, I ended up creating my version of that type of font.
I kinda did that with sans (Proxima). And dabbled, in WT Morris, with Paperback.

Looking to finish this one up. .

Some of the folks that inspire me.
Simon Walker
This guy is a designer and letterer of the type that everyone should meet. Early in my career, I met him and he gave me, in short and direct terms, some of his guiding principles. BLUE COLLAR.
Chris Perez
We have always had a bit of a bromance with our design; the yin to one another’s yang. His abstraction are work I might dismiss if someone else did them, but it’s all so DELIBERATE.
Daniel Martinez
A great designer but far better friend and encourager.
JP
The best illustrator I know, and probably the best illustrator you know if you know him.
Draplin
I know. Everybody Loves Draplin. I like him for different reasons, which is that he embodies (even if it is maybe put on a bit at this point) the blue collar star, accessible and vulnerable.
Brian Keith
The person who set me on the right path in handling type in real life. All my successes can trace back to Brian.
Jessica Hische
No explanation needed. But the mark of a true expert is versatility + craftsmanship in multiple styles.
Mark Simonson
This guy is the designer’s typographer, in the work he produces but in the way he licenses his work as well. And he’s responsive to folks like me.
Mindy Weathersbee
The last check, the final review, for any of my work if I feel doubt about it. She’s got me pegged.
