Final Call!
Hope everyone had a great day today! Our wintry system is approaching the region. We should look to see precipitation move in between 9-11 pm tonight. The precipitation should begin as sleet in the Lehigh Valley and it should continue as sleet for a good 3 to 6 hours. We will see a transition then to freezing rain during the late overnight hours. The freezing rain should continue during the morning hours before the system finally clears out between 9-11 am. The Philly region could see a very brief period of sleet but the precipitation should change over to freezing rain quickly there. We do expect Philly to transition to plain rain but NW of Philly could hold on to the freezing rain longer. Imagines below are of the latest HRRR. The orange on the map is sleet with the purple showing freezing rain.
Impacts and projections:
Travel will be impacted as icy conditions will be likely. Use caution if you are out traveling.
Lehigh Valley
Sleet accumulations of 1 - 1.5”
Ice accumulations of 0.1 - 0.25”
Philly
Sleet accumulations up to a coating
Ice accumulations of 0.1 - 0.2” (high accumulations in the NW suburbs of Philly with lower total in the city)
