Storm Chaser Scott Sweeney

Storm chasers needed an anthem, and I am keen on doing unnecessary things. Thankfully, there is AI to make up for my complete lack of musical talent that can take my stupid lyrics and do something with them.

Southwest of Chickasha yesterday evening, this severe warned supercell briefly tried to tighten up while carrying a “destructive” tag. For a few minutes it looked like it wanted to get serious, but the storm eventually became undercut and lost its chance to organize further.
Still, the structure on this beast was incredible. Layered bands, deep inflow, and a massive vault carved across the Oklahoma prairie made for one of the better storm structure views I’ve seen so far this year.
Absolutely worth the chase.

The Chaser Café ☕🌩️
It’s not a real restaurant. It's any hotel with free breakfast in a tornado risk area where every table has laptops open to radar, someone’s arguing about CAPE values, and the waffle machine is working harder than the HRRR.
Coffee. Hodographs. Bad decisions.
Home.
Danny Devito swirling around Arnold Schwarzenegger. Life imitating art.

While the Spirit Airlines collapse is regrettable, I am happy to report that we have picked up a cheap, new chase vehicle.

Doggo likes these cold tennis balls that fell from the sky in South Aledo, TX this afternoon. Thank you to Christopher Miller for sending me this image!
The Mineral Wells tornado, when it was still 7 miles NW of town and rain-wrapped. The camera is facing west.

To my DFW and surrounding areas peeps: If you own anything outside that you do not wish to be beaten by hail in the next few hours, I HIGHLY suggest you get it sheltered. The magenta area with lines running through it has a 45% chance of seeing exceptional hail exceeding 3.5" in diameter. The red area with lines running through it has a 30% chance of hail of the same size. That is softball size, folks.

The sky over Runaway Bay, TX, after a tornado destroyed homes and lives there tonight. Mother Nature can be frightening one moment and beautiful the next.
