Nobody appreciates a slow Sunday quite like Tig Tig Twiggy.

This gorgeous orange girl has perfected the art of sleeping in, stretching her little leggies out in a sunny window, and burrowing under the covers with her foster mom. The cat who once hid from the world is now a loyal little shadow that wants to be wherever her person is.

Twiggy was rescued from a colony on a government property in January 2025 where several cats needed help. After months with her rescuer, Ruth, learning to trust people, she came to Tails High in November when she needed veterinary care for pododermatitis - a skin infection on her paw pads. She recovered beautifully and has been thriving ever since.

Now three years old, Twiggy is a sweet, silly companion who loves couch cuddles, bedtime snuggles, and quiet moments with her favorite person. She is FeLV positive and in good health. She is looking for a home as a solo pet or with other FeLV positive cats where she can continue enjoying the safe indoor life she always deserved.

Twiggy will need a patient, cat experienced adopter willing to give her time to settle in. Trust us when we say she is worth the wait.

Please help us share Tig Tig Twiggy and submit an adoption application through our website if this special girl sounds like your perfect match. 🧡

It’s the 4th of July, so we guess it makes sense that we’ve ended up with a little firecracker on our hands. 🧨

🍍 Pineapple Upside Down Cake, or Pud, as you’ll hear her foster mom say 100 times a day while reminding her that she just had a very big surgery and has a broken femur, is making up for lost time. The tiny kitten who came to us just over a week ago, barely able to breathe and wanting nothing but love, has continued to recover like a champ. She acts as if she’s been shot out of a cannon anytime she gets a taste of freedom from her playpen. But it’s not quite time to let freedom ring because she still has weeks of healing ahead. So far, all signs point to that leg doing just fine.

Pineapple, her foster family, and all of us at Tails High want to thank you once again for all of your support. Your donations, likes, shares, comments of encouragement, and prayers reassured us that you believed in her, and together we got to witness a miracle.

We hope you have a happy Independence Day, however you choose to celebrate. As festivities begin this evening, please remember that fireworks can be frightening for pets, community cats, wildlife, neurodivergent neighbors, and many veterans. A little preparation and kindness go a long way in helping everyone stay safe and comfortable. Thank you for looking out for one another. đź’™

When one door closes, another one opens. If Miranda and Penguin look familiar, it’s because these girls have been part of the Tails High family since they were rescued as kittens last year. Though not littermates, they formed an unbreakable bond in foster care. Miranda needed extra support while healing from her femur fracture, and Penguin relied on her brave best friend as she learned to trust people.

We were over the moon when they were adopted in March and truly believed they had found the perfect home. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the lifelong commitment they deserved.

We understand that life happens and circumstances change, but adopting a pet means welcoming a family member into your life. Moves, new jobs, and growing families are all part of the journey, yet it still hurts when promises made to these animals don’t last. Regardless of our feelings, we will always take our cats back, especially when we know they deserve more than they’re receiving.

Coming home to the foster family that raised them brought immediate comfort. Over the last few weeks, we’ve given them time to settle back in, and they’re doing wonderfully. Miranda remains the outgoing, curious entertainer she’s always been, while Penguin quietly reminds us what a gentle and sensitive little soul she is.

Now 10 months old, they’re still playful, silly, and full of life, but we know cats their age are often overlooked once kitten season arrives. They would thrive in a calm home where Penguin can take her time to adjust and Miranda can keep everyone laughing.

Please help us spread the word about this perfect pair. They deserve a family that will love them, choose them, and stand by them for the rest of their lives. 🤍🖤

🍍UPDATE 3: Pineapple’s Doctors are thrilled with how well she is doing this morning! “She’s rocking it!” Apparently, the little miss was able to wean off of oxygen overnight, have her chest tube removed, and is acting as if she didn’t just have a very serious surgery. She will be coming home later today!

🍍 UPDATE 2: Pineapple is recovering amazingly well! The ER doctor call to tell us she’s breathing well, vitals are stable, she’s eating, and demanding attention from everyone. She’s getting lots of love and of course she’s a big hit with all of the staff. We will hear another update in the morning and keep you all posted. Thank you!

🍍UPDATE 1: Pineapple is out of surgery and in recovery. She did very well under anesthesia. The doctor was very happy with how things went and although her diaphragm had significant trauma, he was able to repair everything as planned. She will stay hospitalized through tomorrow morning in oxygen. We should have another update at the end of the day.

—

We are both an anxious wreck and incredibly grateful as we write this update.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake was evaluated by Dr. Ganjei at Veterinary Referral Associates this morning, and his assessment made one thing very clear - there is no time to wait. Based on Pineapple’s respiratory effort and rate, along with the open-mouth breathing and inability to rest comfortably that we witnessed over the weekend, she needs her diaphragmatic herniorrhaphy as soon as possible. Waiting any longer would only increase the risk to her little body.

Dr. Ganjei believes Pineapple’s hernia was likely caused by the same traumatic event that fractured her femur. Correcting it now gives her the best chance to avoid further complications and finally allow her lungs the room they need.

This surgery carries significant risks, especially because of Pineapple’s tiny size and the challenges of anesthesia. We are so worried about our sweet girl, but we also know she is in the very best hands. The team caring for her specializes in complex procedures like this, and we know she will be incredibly brave.

Pineapple will go into surgery this afternoon and recover in the hospital in oxygen afterward to keep her safe and comfortable. We will share an update as soon as we know more.

The low estimate for surgery alone is $6,462, and because of your generosity, we were able to say yes without hesitation. Including hospitalization, the high estimate is $9,384. As of this morning, we have already raised $8,624. Because of you, this lifesaving procedure is happening.

When Pineapple nestles her tiny face into our cheek and looks at us with complete trust, we know this leap of faith is the right one. She has her whole beautiful life ahead of her. Today is a very big hurdle, but your love and support are carrying all of us through it. 🍍🍰🧡
