On April 23, 2026, the Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Luca Antonio Franklin, who has been charged with possession and distribution of child po*******hy.

In December 2025, investigators received a tip from the CyberTipline for Exploited Children indicating that Franklin was actively hosting and distributing illegal material.

A court-authorized search warrant was subsequently executed at the defendant’s residence, where approximately 200 files depicting child sexual abuse material were recovered.

Franklin is currently awaiting extradition from Virginia to face these charges.

Today, the Forest Heights Police Department responded to a critical incident involving an individual attempting to jump from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Lieutenant Grooms, serving as the primary officer on scene for our department, made contact with the individual and took the time to sit with him, listen, and provide reassurance during a difficult moment. With the support of Coach, the comfort dog, he was able to build trust, offer encouragement, and remind him that he is not alone.

Through patience, compassion, and simply being present, Lieutenant Grooms helped guide the situation toward a safe and positive outcome.
