July wine clubs are shipping! This month’s Club Chevalier is “Ancient Oceans” themed and includes a Q&A with geologist and terroir specialist . In our other clubs, Riofavara’s fragrant, zesty Marzaiolo from Sicily is featured, plus chillable Rhône bottlings like Trinquevedel’s strawberry-scented Tavel and our brambly Côtes du Rhône blend to accompany Provençal snacks like tapenade, pissaladière, or herby roast chicken with olives. Santé!

If any region is coming for Bandol’s rosé crown, it is perhaps the island of Corsica, right across the Mediterranean from Provence. Different climates and terroirs are scattered around the island, from windswept coastal plains to more rugged inland mountains. Domaine de Marquiliani’s featherweight vin gris, made by Anne Amalric is made entirely from a red grape—Sciaccarellu—but its hue is so ethereal it almost resembles a white wine due to the fleeting time the juice spends on the grapeskins. Waves of peach, melon, seaspray, and herbs come rolling across the palate, showcasing the beauty of Anne’s terroir halfway up Corsica’s eastern coast.
