Here are a few simple, fun ways to boost early literacy skills at home from Ms. Rivera, our EL teacher! 🏡💫

1️⃣ Read, Read, and Read Again! 📖 Re-reading is key! First, read the story to your child, pointing to each word. Next, let them “read” by describing the pictures on each page. Then, read together, encouraging them to repeat phrases or words. This layered approach helps build comprehension and confidence!

2️⃣ Sing and Rhyme in Both Languages! 🎶 Sing nursery rhymes or fun songs in English and your native language. The repetition in songs makes it easy for little ones to join in and learn new words through music. 🎤💕

3️⃣ Build Vocabulary Everywhere! 🌍 Bring literacy to life on walks or grocery trips! Point out signs in the neighborhood or name fruits at the store, describing how they’re used. This helps connect words to real-world meaning and builds vocabulary! 🍎🏠
