Introducing the Inaugural Leading Without Ego: Supervisory Leadership Academy – Class 1

Today, we proudly introduce the first class of the Leading Without Ego: Supervisory Leadership Academy—a diverse group of law enforcement professionals who have dedicated themselves to becoming stronger, more effective leaders for their agencies, communities, and teams.

Over the course of this academy, these leaders have worked hard to challenge themselves, grow their skills, and embrace a leadership philosophy centered on humility, service, accountability, and influence. Representing agencies across Oklahoma and Arkansas, they bring different ranks, responsibilities, experiences, and perspectives, yet they share a common commitment: investing in themselves so they can better serve others.

As they return to their organizations, they bring back more than knowledge. They bring renewed purpose, practical leadership tools, stronger relationships, and a commitment to developing the people around them. Their willingness to learn and lead without ego will have a lasting impact on their agencies and the communities they serve.

A special thank you goes to Chief Earl Morrison of the Broken Bow Police Department, whose vision, passion, and countless hours of work led to the creation of this academy. Chief Morrison invested an extraordinary amount of time developing and teaching this program, and his dedication to growing the next generation of leaders has made this opportunity possible.

Day 2 Highlights | Leading Without Ego: Supervisory Leadership Academy

Day 2 challenged our supervisors to look beyond position and ask a deeper question: What kind of leader are people choosing to follow?

Some of today's discussions centered around powerful ideas like:

✅ Protecting the mission, not the ego. Great leaders don't spend their energy protecting their image—they protect the standards, the mission, and the people they serve.

✅ Leadership protects the standard. Character-based leadership focuses on doing what is right, even when it's difficult.

One discussion prompt sparked thoughtful conversation:

"Have you ever followed someone because you had to—but not because you trusted them? What was missing?"

That question led to honest conversations about trust, credibility, communication, and the difference between authority and influence. While a title may require compliance, trust is what inspires commitment.

One of the greatest strengths of this academy has been watching experienced law enforcement professionals openly share their perspectives, challenge one another's thinking, and learn from each other's experiences. Those conversations are where real growth happens.

As we head into our final day, we're excited to continue building on this momentum. The future of law enforcement leadership is bright when leaders are willing to learn, grow, and lead with character.

Day 1 of the Leading Without Ego Supervisory Leadership Academy in Idabel, OK is in the books, and what an incredible start!

Yesterday was filled with meaningful conversations, leadership insights, personal reflection, and a shared commitment to becoming better leaders. We explored the importance of character, accountability, humility, and influence, while challenging ourselves to lead with purpose rather than ego.

One of the greatest parts of the day was the engagement from every participant. The discussions were thoughtful, the perspectives were valuable, and the willingness to learn and grow was evident throughout the room.
