This one is especially heartbreaking because it happened in Owasso, Oklahoma - just north of me in the Tulsa area.
Late Thursday night, Owasso police responded to a domestic disturbance after a child inside the home called 911. When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Sara Duff deceased. Her husband, Sean Duffey—known to many on TikTok as DuffDaddy1—was found with a self-inflicted injury and later died at a local hospital.
June 10, 2026: Sara filed for an emergency protective order against Shawn Duffey, alleging he had a gun, threatened su***de, and fled. The order was later extended through August.
July 11, 2026: Sara posted the now-viral TikTok using the Netflix documentary trend, writing that she had just discovered her soon-to-be ex-husband was a pe*****le.
According to the protective order filed on behalf of a 15-year-old girl, the girl's mother alleged that Shawn Duffey, who coached her basketball team:
He kissed the girl.
He touched her inappropriately.
He sent her private messages.
He invited her to his hotel room during a basketball tournament.
He allegedly offered her money to keep quiet.
Another coach reportedly witnessed him kissing or engaging in inappropriate contact with the girl.
July 23, 2026 (around 11:15 p.m.): Owasso police responded to a 911 call from a child in the home. Investigators say Shawn Duffey fatally shot Sara before taking his own life.
Sara was a hairstylist, a mother of two children from a previous marriage, and someone whose life should not be reduced to headlines. My heart is with her children, loved ones, and everyone in the Owasso community now trying to make sense of this tragedy.

July marks the anniversary of one of Oklahoma's most heartbreaking unsolved murders.
On July 7, 1995, 15-year-old Daniel Lee Furr disappeared from Ada, Oklahoma. Four days later, on July 11, his body was allegedly discovered at an abandoned quarry near the old Ada Brick Plant. The death was ruled a homicide, but more than three decades later, no one has been held accountable for Daniel's murder, and the family still questions whether they actually laid Daniel to rest.
Daniel was a son, a brother, a friend, and a teenager whose future was stolen far too soon. His family has spent years fighting to keep his name in the public eye and searching for the answers they still deserve.
