It's heartbreaking to see the devastating impact at the Kiteezi landfill. Our condolences to the families who lost loved ones, properties, and animals. 🙏

According to NEMA, the Kiteezi site exceeded its design capacity years ago and was supposed to be decommissioned in 2011, but this didn't happen. The community has long pleaded with the Government to stop dumping waste in their area, but their cries have gone unheard, leaving them to suffer the consequences.

Urgently, we need effective waste management solutions in our country. We must be willing to adopt ideas from developed countries and embrace a where waste is utilized and becomes a valuable resource, not a liability. Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and responsible parties must take action.
