UPDATE: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has recovered missing Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Integrated Science scripts for candidates of Bamure Primary School in Koboko District, easing concerns over the fate of the affected learners’ results.
UNEB said the missing scripts belonging to 34 candidates had been traced and forwarded for marking after investigations established that they had been securely stored in a sealed envelope within the school premises.
UNEB explained that during routine quality control procedures conducted before the release of examination results, the scripts were initially found to be missing. As a temporary measure, the affected candidates had been tentatively awarded an “X” as investigations were launched to trace the scripts at marking centres and the school.
The envelope was subsequently handed over to Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed that it had not been tampered with before the scripts were delivered to UNEB for marking.
The examination body reassured parents, candidates, and other stakeholders that the scripts would be marked expeditiously and that the affected learners would be graded in time for the national selection and placement exercise.
UNEB said the incident was now under control and urged the public to remain calm as the marking process continues.
