Treat yourself to a discounted safari exploring the wooded savannahs lining the banks of the Nile River and teeming with wildlife in the Murchison Falls National Park. On your drive to Murchison Falls National Park, you will first visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, featuring the only rhinos in Uganda. Here you will venture on a walking safari to track rhinos or experience a boat ride to search for the elusive shoebill stork.
Murchison Falls National Park shares its name with the famous falls on the Nile River, whose 43 meters of boiling water are forced through a 7-meter wide gap before crashing into the wooded country below. Murchison Falls NP is the largest gazetted park in Uganda, covering more than 3,900 square kilometers, and is today recognized as the most popular park in the country next to Queen Elizabeth NP.
The landscapes of the northern areas of the park are dominated by savannahs interspersed with Borassus palms, acacia trees, and riverine woodlands. By comparison, the southern parts of the park feature woodland and tropical forests that are also home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, such as chimpanzees, buffalos, lions, elephants, Uganda kob, and Rothschild’s giraffe.
Our gorilla and chimpanzee tracking adventures and general wildlife safaris feature major activities, exciting experiences, and memorable events. And our tour prices are all-inclusive of major activities, including gorilla and chimp permits where required. Treat yourself to a discounted safari exploring the bamboo thickets and tropical forests of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The endangered mountain gorillas of Africa exist primarily in 2 locations, the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the Virunga Conservation Area (VCA), which comprises three national parks and a string of eight volcanoes stretching across Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Today there are more than 1,000 mountain gorillas in this region, and half of that population lives in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Mountain gorillas also exist in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, but these frequently cross into Rwanda and are not easy to track.
The ancient Bwindi Forest dates back to the last ice age and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It provides an incredible backdrop for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as you have the exciting opportunity to visit the mountain gorilla's natural habitat of bamboo groves and enjoy sensational views of lush tropical rainforests.
