Finance Minister Returns from IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, DC

South Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit, has returned to the country after leading a government delegation to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.

Minister Mabiordit arrived at Juba International Airport on Sunday morning, where he was received by senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Bank of South Sudan.

The delegation included the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Jonny Ohisa Damain, and the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Planning, Hon. Benjamin Ayali Koyongwa.

Officials said the delegation is expected to brief President Salva Kiir Mayardit on the outcomes of the high-level meetings, which brought together global finance ministers, central bank governors and development partners to discuss economic challenges, reforms and international cooperation.

The Spring Meetings, held this month in Washington, provided South Sudan an opportunity to engage with international financial institutions and development partners on issues related to economic recovery, public finance management and development priorities.

BREAKING: The Minister of Transport, Gen. Rizik Zakaria Hassan, has reinstated Mosety Kat Monyjok as the General Manager of Juba International Airport, overturning the earlier appointment of Amel James Ajonga.
