WomenCraft
What does WomenCraft stand for? π€
In this reel by .baroude, our Director, Lorenza Marzo, shares the story behind WomenCraft: a social enterprise rooted in Ngara, north-west Tanzania, where women artisans work within self-organised village groups to keep traditional weaving knowledge alive while building sustainable access to markets.
From papyrus and star grass to recycled grain-sack thread, each piece begins with local materials, skilled hands, and a process shaped by care and collaboration.
Across homeware, furniture and lighting, we bring tradition and contemporary design into conversation, creating objects that carry culture, function, and possibility.
Watch Lorenzaβs story, then come and experience the collections in person at Harbour Boutique Center, Chole Road, Masaki, Dar es Salaam.

From line to light.
What begins as a sketch evolves through technical drawings, material exploration, prototyping, and many hands at work.
The Mvavuli Ceiling Lamp, handwoven by WomenCraft artisans and designed by Emmanuel Babled, is the result of a dialogue between precision and craft, where technical thinking meets the irregular beauty of handmade work.
