ELCT Northern Diocese

The ELCT Northern Diocese constitution stipulates that the Diocese shall hold a General Assembly (Synod) every two years. This years’ Synod was held on 18th August 2020 at Uhuru Hotel and Conference Center, Moshi. The unique thing about this Assembly was that it was held for one day instead of three days as it was done in the past. Key issues discussed were the implementation of the goals set in the 2018 assembly and plans for the coming two years. All matters were well presented and discussed in the plenary and in groups and feedback given to the assembly.
The assembly was attended by 408 participants among them were 345 voting members. We also had leaders from other ELCT Dioceses and the Catholic Diocese. The retired Bishops and other senior retired officers of the Diocese. The chairperson of the meeting was Bishop Dr. Fredrick Onael Shoo the Bishop of the ELCT Northern Diocese and the Presiding Bishop of the Church.
Among other issues discussed in the Synod was election of Dean (Assistant to the Bishop). The current Dean Rev. Elingaya Saria finished his term of office in this assembly. The Dean Elect is Rev. Deogratius John Msanya. Please let us pray for him as he takes over this important position. Also pray for the entire leadership of the diocese and of the Church. It was a very successful meeting full of God's spirt.
Below are some of the photos of the participants.

ELCT Northern Diocese this afternoon (4 June 2020) distributed eleven motorcycles to the ELCT ND / NCA field workers. The motorcycles are essential tools to increase efficiency of these workers in the field given their wide geographical area they cover. These field officers work with people at grassroots to build their capacity in vegetable production, IRVicoba, poultry, paralegal awareness and interfaith issues. We are grateful to Norwegian Church Aid (NCA Tanzania) for funding this project to improve the well-being of our people. The following are some of the photo taken during the handover of the motorcycles.
