Malengo Development Foundation with our partner Egmont Trust we are transforming the lives of the marginalised and underserved Maasai children and their young mamas in Simanjiro District.

Through our Mammy and Kids Empowerment Programme (The MAKE Programme) we utilize the innovative play schemes and teach-at-the-right level model and engage professional ECD volunteers to enabling the Maasai children to access early childhood education and care (ECDC) as well as capacitating their young mothers and certified with with the certificate to be the certified ToTs in parenting, childcare and entrepreneurship so as to foster the growth and development of their children and other children in their communities and ensure the project sustainability.

We offer incredible hands-on opportunities where you can directly support Maasai communities and contribute to real, sustainable change.

Choose your passion:

Child Development: Help facilitate learning through play and home visits at our MAKE Hub in Naisinyai, Simanjiro, which supports Maasai children and young women. Your work would be centered on curriculum development and teaching, helping to facilitate Practical Parenting Sessions and Learning Through Play activities. Support the Home Visiting Program, accompanying our trained facilitators to reinforce lessons and help families apply what they've learned in their everyday lives.

Environmental Sustainability: Get your hands dirty up-cycling furniture with local artisans at the FUMA Hub.This initiative promotes environmental and socioeconomic health by up-cycling broken wood and metal furniture. You would get hands dirty by assisting with furniture pick-ups from households, working alongside local carpenters and welders to up-cycle and manufacture new products, and helping with the distribution of furniture to underserved classrooms. You would also contribute to Eco-friendly interiors by painting and arranging furniture in local schools and hospitals

Community Health: For volunteers with a medical interest, there are opportunities to support our remote medical outreach including medical care for neglected street children, telemedical care programs by assisting with patient intake, counseling, and treatment under the guidance of our local healthcare professionals.

Cultural Exchange: Immerse yourself in Maasai culture and help families practice English through our TCL Program. You would help Maasai families with household tasks and providing valuable English language practice, all while immersing yourself in Kiswahili and Maasai language and preserving Maasai cultures.

Environmental Conservation Initiatives: You would also get to be directly involved in our climate education and action programs, including Environmental Learning Through Play such as storytelling, nature walks, gardening, tree planting and interactive games with children and supporting Teacher Training to help incorporate environmental themes into daily routines
