A major shortage of face masks for doctors & nurses is approaching. Chinese factories are cranking them out as fast as possible, but that only supplies enough for... China. So I had a minor brainstorm today: Modern vacuums have HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Absorbtion) filters, and it appears these can be adapted to the kind of respirators (face masks) used to protect workers from gases and solvents. HEPA filters trap viruses. So I've ordered many different kinds from Lazada to see what I can make work. Maybe the world's entire supply & production of vacuum-cleaner filters can be repurposed to protect medical workers.
