Madagascar has eliminated South Sudan from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers after a 1-0 second leg win at the Juba National Stadium today June 9th, 2026.

The Malagasy held South Sudan to a 1-1 draw in the first leg before a narrow 1-0 win in the return leg, Both sides played an excellent and entertaining game. However Madagascar got the most needed winner in the 90+3 minutes courtesy of Julie’s strike.

Reports has it that Omar Abdulkadir Artan, one of Africa’s top referees from Somalia, was denied entry into the United States after arriving for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The reports further claim he was sent back to Turkey, with no official explanation released so far

Artan was expected to make history as the first Somali referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup 😔💔
