One student's idea turned into 100 young people taking action. πŸ’šπŸŒ

When Rita Nyara, Head Girl of JCC Model Secondary School, reached out to Save the Nile, she had one goal: inspire students to protect their environment.

Today, that vision came to life.

More than 100 students joined a cleanup in Buluk, proving that real change doesn't start in boardrooms. It starts with young people who care enough to act.

Huge appreciation to G Clear Solutions for partnering with us, and to Juba City Council for providing waste collection trucks that helped ensure safe disposal of the waste collected.

The future is brighter when students lead. Watch till the end and see what youth leadership looks like in action. πŸ’§πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Έ

What started as one student's idea became action.

Rita Nyara, the Head Girl of JCC Model Secondary School, reached out to Save the Nile with a simple but powerful vision: to organize a cleanup activity that would inspire students to take responsibility for their environment.

Today, that vision became reality.

More than 100 students joined a cleanup exercise at JCC Model Secondary School and its surrounding areas in Buluk, collecting waste and demonstrating that environmental stewardship begins with local action.

Save the Nile was proud to support this student-led initiative in partnership with G Clear Solutions by providing cleanup materials and coordination support.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Juba City Council for consistently supporting community cleanup initiatives by providing garbage collection trucks for the safe transportation and disposal of collected waste. Their partnership continues to play an important role in keeping our city clean and healthy.

We commend Rita Nyara, the school administration, teachers, and all participating students for their leadership and commitment to building a cleaner and healthier community.

Real change happens when young people step forward and lead.

This is why we started Save the Nile. From community cleanups to radio campaigns and student innovation camps, we're proving that young people can lead real change. Watch till the end and join the movement. πŸŒπŸ’™β€

β€œWe are not paid to do this. We volunteer because the Nile belongs to all of us.” πŸ’§πŸ”₯

Ayual Santino Majok, Volunteer and Creative Director, shares why young people are stepping forward to fight plastic pollution in South Sudan. While many wait for others to act, these volunteers are giving their time, energy, and passion to protect the river that sustains millions.

The Nile is choking under plastic waste, but hope is rising through youth action. This movement belongs to all of us. Watch till the end and hear why this cause matters.

A Special Tribute to Our Dedicated Traffic Police Officer

As we gathered today to celebrate World Environment Day and take part in the Save the Nile campaign, one act of service stood out and touched our hearts deeply.

To the traffic police officer who stepped away from his duty post to join us in protecting our environment, we extend our sincerest gratitude and admiration. Your uniform represents discipline, service, and sacrifice, and today you embodied all three.

By choosing to stand with us in cleaning and preserving the Nile, you showed that true leadership is not limited to one’s profession it is reflected in the willingness to serve wherever help is needed. The Nile is the lifeline of our communities, and your contribution reminds us that safeguarding it is a responsibility we all share.

Your dedication, humility, and commitment to the well-being of our people and our environment have inspired everyone present. Thank you for going beyond the call of duty.

Thank you for standing with us.

Behind the scenes at the Hai Kasaba Riverside Cleanup.

At 6:00 AM, volunteers began arriving at the riverside, ready to mark World Environment Day 2026 through action. Students, community members, environmental advocates, and partners gathered early, waiting for others to join before the cleanup officially began.

What started as a small group of committed volunteers grew into more than 120 participants united by one goal: protecting the Nile and keeping our communities clean.

This is how change begins, with people showing up.
