Today, 31 October 2025, UN OCHA Conference Hall, Juba, HOFAD has joined UNICEF, WHO, Government Line Ministries (including Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation, Ministry of Health), International and National NGOs.

Key Discussion Points
1. Cholera Response Updates:
• Partners shared the latest situation on cholera cases and ongoing response activities in affected counties.
• WHO provided an epidemiological update, highlighting a decline in new cases but continued high risk in flood-affected and displacement areas.
• Emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination between WASH and Health sectors for improved surveillance and case management support.
2. Flood Response:
• Flooding continues to disrupt access to safe water and sanitation facilities in several regions.
• Partners discussed the deployment of emergency WASH supplies and the rehabilitation of damaged water systems.
3. Hygiene Kit Distribution:
• UNICEF and NGO partners reported ongoing distribution of hygiene kits targeting households in cholera hotspots and flood-affected communities.
• Gaps were noted in some counties due to logistical constraints and limited pre-positioned stocks.
4. Water Supply Issues:
• Water contamination and limited chlorination capacity were identified as major concerns.
• Partners agreed to intensify water quality monitoring and ensure availability of water-treatment chemicals at community and institutional levels.

Decisions and Agreed Actions
• Strengthen coordination between WASH and Health partners for integrated cholera prevention and response.
• Pre-position WASH supplies (chlorine, hygiene kits, water containers) in high-risk counties ahead of further flooding.
• Conduct joint field assessments to identify gaps in safe-water access and sanitation infrastructure.
• Regularly update 4W mapping to improve visibility of partner coverage and resource allocation.

HOFAD’s Contribution
• HOFAD shared updates on its planned WASH activities in cholera-affected communities, including hygiene promotion and safe-water interventions.
• Raised challenges related to access constraints, supply shortages, and limited funding for ongoing field operations.
• Committed to continue coordination with cluster partners and to share data on community feedback and WASH intervention progress.
