About Shabab Le Shabab Health Alliance

Shabab Le Shabab is a consortium of youth-led and youth-focused organizations dedicated to promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR), combating Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), advancing gender equity, empowering youth, and addressing cross-cutting issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in South Sudan.
The Alliance implements its activities through member organizations with strong community roots across South Sudan.

Mission: To engage grassroots communities and stakeholders in addressing SRH, STIs, and gender equity, while building the capacity of member organizations.

Legal Status: Registered under RRC No. 2790 and currently an implementing partner (IP) for UNFPA delivering the 2gether4SRHR program in Upper Nile (Malakal and Renk) and advocacy programs in Wau and Bor.

About Universal Care Aid Network (UNICAN)

UNICAN is a South Sudan-based humanitarian and development organization, established in 2016 and legally registered in 2018 under RRC Registration No. 1601. UNICAN works to empower communities—especially children, youth, women, and other vulnerable groups—through peacebuilding, education, health, environmental advocacy, and sustainable livelihoods.

Project Summary

Overall Goal:
To empower youth as art and video storytellers, peer educators/champions, and community advocates, enhancing awareness, feedback, and dialogue on SRH, maternal health, GBV, and youth rights through locally produced art (dramas, poems, folk songs, dances) and short films in Bor and Wau.

South Sudan’s deeply hierarchical society often limits youth voices, particularly those facing multiple exclusions. This initiative harnesses technology-enabled storytelling and peer-led advocacy to break barriers and amplify youth voices. By creating visual narratives on SRH and related issues, youth will become agents of change, promoting dialogue and accountability at the community level and informing state and national advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

1. Youth Training and Capacity Building

Training in art-based communication (dramas, poems, stories, folk songs).

Training in video production (scripting, filming, interviewing, editing).

Orientation on SRHR content and ethical storytelling principles.

Digital safety, informed consent, and “do no harm” practices.

2. Storytelling and Video Production

Identify relevant SRHR topics (child marriage, contraceptive access, GBV, menstruation).

Conduct peer interviews and document community stories.

Produce short, culturally contextualized films and performances.

3. Community Screenings and Dialogue

Organize regular community screenings and discussions.

Collect feedback from youth and community members for service improvement.

Facilitate dialogue to challenge stereotypes and harmful practices.

4. Advocacy and Engagement

Use stories and community feedback for policy-level advocacy.

Engage youth in state and national forums to amplify grassroots voices.

Qualifications & Requirements

Age: 18–24 years (at least 50% should be adolescent girls or young women).

Inclusive of youth with disabilities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and refugees.

Interest in community service, storytelling, and youth empowerment.

Basic literacy and willingness to learn new skills.

Commitment to ethical engagement and inclusivity.

Affiliation with an implementing partner or recommendation from a youth-led/community-based organization.
