BREAKING NEWS: Alleged human trafficking operation foiled in Aweil East as 245 children rescued

Aweil East County commissioner have confirmed the interception of four buses carrying 245 children aged between 5 and 12 in what they described as a suspected human trafficking operation.

According to the press release, the buses entered Madhol Payam and Marol Akot on the night of May 5, 2026, and were allegedly transporting the children to Juba under false claims of a government-sponsored scholarship program.

County authorities stated that investigations found no authorization or official documents from the government supporting the alleged scholarship initiative. The operation was allegedly linked to self-proclaimed Prophet Peter AD and his associates.

The buses were intercepted and escorted to Wanyjok Headquarters, where officials questioned those involved. Authorities later ordered the immediate return of all children to their families, confirming that all 245 children were safely reunited with their parents.

SAD NEWS: 7 Killed in Fuel Tanker Explosion in Gogrial West County

Tragedy has struck Panliet, Awan Mou in Gogrial West County after an overturned fuel tanker claimed multiple lives in two separate incidents.

The tanker first caught fire when the driver attempted to transfer fuel using a generator, triggering an electrical fault. The blaze killed one person on the spot and left five others injured.
Despite the earlier incident, villagers later returned to the scene to siphon fuel from the tanker. In a devastating turn of events, the tanker ignited again, resulting in a powerful explosion that killed six people instantly and left several others seriously injured.

The back-to-back incidents have plunged the local community into mourning, as families grieve the loss of their loved ones.
