Islamic Council Leaders Meet Governor Mujung, Engages on Strengthening Collaboration

‎Juba, 20 June 2025 (CESGPU) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel on Friday received leadership of the South Sudan Islamic Council at the State Government Secretariat in Juba.

‎The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation, fostering peaceful coexistence, and aligning mutual efforts between the State Government and the Islamic Council, particularly in the areas of education, health, and social development.

‎Governor Mujung underlined the role of the Islamic Council for fostering social development. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with religious leaders in promoting messages of peace, unity, and sustainable development across the state.

‎Speaking to the media following the meeting, the Secretary General of the South Sudan Islamic Council, Abdallah Baraj reiterated the Council’s readiness to work closely with the Governor to support developmental initiatives. He also extended congratulations to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for appointing Gen. Mujung to lead the State.

‎“We discussed the vital role of the Islamic Council in supporting the new Governor, and emphasized our strong relationship with the South Sudan Council of Churches in advancing interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence,” Baraj stated. “We encouraged the Governor to remain close to Allah to receive the wisdom and strength needed to govern effectively.”

‎The meeting reflects a growing spirit of interfaith collaboration and the State Government’s continued engagement with religious institutions as key partners in governance and development.

‎Juba, 18 June, 2025 (CESGPU) - In a colorful and delightful event,
‎H.E. Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, was accorded a warm reception at the State Government Secretariat on Wednesday. Cheered by a crowd of State government officials, members of the organized forces, communities, and supporters, the event marked the official reception of the Governor following his swearing-in by the President, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit at the State House, Wednesday.

‎In his keynote address during the reception, Governor Mujung acknowledged and appreciated the tireless efforts of former governors of the State for their dedication in laying a strong foundation. He committed himself to uphold the same vision of development and service delivery to the people. The Governor underscored the need for collective efforts, determination, and steadfast commitment toward achieving the public interest.

‎"I fully understand that the challenge of sustaining the welfare of our public servants has become a burning issue. However, it should never mean that we normalize corruption at the expense of our fellow citizens and the development partners who place their trust in us," said Governor Mujung.

‎The Governor also outlined key areas that demand immediate and sustained attention including infrastructure development, health, and education—essential services and fundamental rights of every citizen in Central Equatoria State.

‎Economically, the Governor said the State government should not depend solely on taxes and levies but should instead broaden its base and actively engage investors, local entrepreneurs, and regional and international partners to boost the economy.
