In a powerful demonstration of the vital link between cultural heritage and progressive leadership, His Worship the Deputy Mayor of Freetown, Kweku Lisk (Esq.), was honoured by a delegation of senior members from the Marampa Ojeh Society and the Magazine Community. The meeting, held in a spirit of fraternal warmth and mutual respect, highlighted Deputy Mayor Lisk’s deep-rooted connections to the communities he serves, both as a public official and as the Chairman of the esteemed Marampa Ojeh Society.
The delegation, led by Kakaray Agba Sankoh and including distinguished figures such as Kararay Agba Yada White and Okowe Mustapha Fofanah, presented a plaque to the Deputy Mayor. This gesture was made in celebration of his recent re-election as an Executive Committee Member of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and his subsequent prestigious appointment to the FIFA Institutional Relationship Committee. This role places Freetown and Sierra Leone on the global sporting map.
Kakaray Agba Sankoh praised Deputy Mayor Lisk for his unwavering support and the exemplary leadership he provides, not only within the Freetown City Council and in football governance but also to the cultural fabric of Freetown. He invoked divine blessings from Oluhun and Ogun for the Deputy Mayor’s continued success, including his future political aspirations.
In his gracious response, Deputy Mayor Lisk expressed profound gratitude for the surprise gift and the delegation’s visit. He reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to serving Freetonian and by extention the Marampa Ojeh Society, the Magazine Community, and all related cultural institutions across Freetown. He humbly articulated his belief that engaged, law-abiding cultural societies are the bedrock of communal development.
Looking to the future, the Deputy Mayor connected his diverse roles into a unified vision. He highlighted football’s proven power to elevate communities from poverty, while also charging cultural custodians, like the Ojeh Societies, with a critical role in safeguarding the nation's youth by combating the scourge of narcotics and synthetic drugs like Kush. This holistic approach, blending sport, culture, and steadfast leadership, solidifies His Worship Kweku Lisk’s position as a dynamic and dedicated custodian of Freetown’s progress and a formidable aspirant for the city’s highest office in 2028.
