Recap: Men’s Corner Talk Show – Silent Struggles: Drug Abuse and the Modern Man.

A Talk Show with the cross section of the executives of the Old Princewaleans Association- IPAM CHAPTER.💚🤍

Yesterday on SLBC 99.9 fm, the Men’s Corner Talk Show, hosted by Mr. Olwin Roy Faux, tackled the silent realities of drug abuse among modern men—starting not with drugs, but with the struggles behind them.

The OPWA IPAM CHAPTER'S shared the P.S.E. scenario of a man locked in a room:

Pressure from life and society to always be strong and succeed.

Stress building silently inside, with no space to express pain.

Escape, where drugs appear as temporary relief but deepen the trap.

A powerful question was asked: "Should men cry?"
The truth is clear—unexpressed emotions don’t disappear; they turn into stress, addiction, anger, or silence. Crying is not a weakness; it’s a release.

In closing, the call was clear: men must engage in skills, peer support, prayer, and personal responsibility—while opening up instead of suffering in silence.

"It’s easy to get into something, but difficult to come out of it."

The way forward begins when men speak, seek help, and open the door.

This Wednesday on Men’s Corner Talk Show, the conversation turns to one of the most silent yet dangerous challenges facing men today drug abuse.

Under the theme “Silent Struggles: Drug Abuse and the Modern Man,” the program will host members of the Old Princewalean Association (OPWA), IPAM Chapter, for an in-depth discussion on how substance abuse continues to affect men’s mental health, productivity, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Drug abuse often thrives in silence, especially among men who feel pressured to appear strong while battling personal struggles behind closed doors. This edition of Men’s Corner seeks to break that silence by creating a safe space for honest conversation, awareness, and practical solutions.

The panel will explore:
• Why men are increasingly vulnerable to drug abuse
• The social, psychological, and economic factors driving substance use
• The impact of drug abuse on families, careers, and communities
• The role of peer support, education, and accountability in recovery

The discussion will also highlight prevention strategies and encourage men to speak up, seek help, and support one another.

HOST: Olwin Roy-Faux
This Wednesday, 28th January 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on SLBC FM 99.9, and be part of a conversation that matters.
