An Appeal for support for an access to electricity to impoverished poor rural village.
By Pastor Mathew Alpha Kamara
When I was making preparation earlier this month to travel to my maternal and paternal village all in the Bombali district Northern Sierra Leone, I knew I had to make plans for electricity to be charging my phones and lighting up the room to sleep at night ,cause I hate darkness. But as most rural villages in the interior in Sierra Leone do not have access to electricity, neither pipe borne water or good roads and my parents villages isn't an exception.
So I saved up some money and bought a portable Sun Africa solar installation that to charge up my phone and gives out light, everything including (battry, bulb and panel, cause everything was bought separately), cost me Le1.500 ie $63 equivalent. I know it quite expensive and out of the reach of most Sierra Leonean, as the minimum wage here is just $33 monthly.
I arrived in the village today Friday 19th, December, 2025. The moment I powered it on this night so many children in the village came running to the house because of the bright light they saw.
Just imagine if such can be provided for every household in the village of lessthan 100, and also other surrounding villages that do not have access to electricity. Think of the change this will bring in the area of education and self dignity.
I will rest my case here.
