Law School Gets New Acting Director
The Council for Legal Education has appointed Honourable Justice Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi as Acting Director of the Sierra Leone Law School.
The appointment underscores the Councilβs commitment to strengthening leadership and improving professional legal training in Sierra Leone. Justice Alhadi, a Justice of the Supreme Court since May 2025, brings extensive judicial experience and a strong background in legal education.
The Law School, established under the Council of Legal Education Act of 1989, remains Sierra Leoneβs principal institution for training lawyers and conducting Bar examinations.
As Acting Director, Justice Alhadi is expected to provide strategic leadership, maintain academic standards, and ensure effective administration during the transition.
She previously served at the Court of Appeal and High Court, lectured at the Law School since 2018, and held key legal roles in banking, public service, and private practice. She is also a Judge of the United Nations Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone.

PPRC Certifies HAD Party as New Political Force
The Political Parties Regulation Commission has officially certified the Humble Africans Development Party (HADP) as a registered political party in Sierra Leone on 24 June 2026, marking a significant milestone in the countryβs democratic landscape. The registration expands the multiparty system and provides citizens with an additional platform for participation in governance and national development.
The party is reported to prioritize community empowerment, skills development, youth engagement, economic growth, and inclusive governance. Political observers describe the emergence of HADP as a positive sign of democratic growth, noting that new parties can strengthen public participation and political competition across the country.

Health Minister, Dr. Austin Demby has revealed at the London Civic Day Series that about 9,000 children had never been vaccinated nationwide, but over 5,000 were reached and fully vaccinated under the governmentβs 100 Days of Activism.
He clarified that βmalnourishedβ children were a separate issue. Dr. Demby also announced a planned 300-bed modern hospital at Kerry Town, alongside three 100-bed hospitals currently under construction in Pujehun, Moyamba, and Karene Districts.
