I do not think Declan deserved that second Yellow. I’ve listened to enlightened pundits including Mike Dean - 99% percent concluded that rules are rules - Declan kicked the ball. Yet, none of them said the ‘ball’ Declan actually kicked.

Brighton’s Veltman was ruthlessly intentional about what he did. The Arsenal’s midfielder had already walked away from the spot of the tackle. It cannot be conclusively stated that the Brighton’s right back wanted to take a quick free kick.

Veltman had two ‘touches’ on the ball on the ball. This is in-between the time Rice walked away from the spot and when he was booked the second yellow card.

1. Veltman first nudged the ball a little forward. Technically, that was the free kick taken. The ball rolled into the outer side of Dec’s right foot, who reflexively, repeat - reflexively nudged it aside. If Veltman had planned that touch to be the free kick, there was no need to book Declan. Declan a sort of blocked the free kick played against Arsenal by Veltman. If he was trying to set up the ball for the kick, then comes the analysis on the second kick.
2. If Veltman wanted to set the ball for his ‘quick kick’ he shouldn’t deliberately set the ball into the foot of the retreating Declan. Then, as the ball rolled away from Declan’s touch, Veltman saw the ball in clear eyes rolling away and brutally struck Declan with his foot on purpose. Sending the player to bite the turf.

I’ve slept more than I should and woke up less than I slept and still not see how Declan deserved a second warning from Kavanagh and Veltman deserved a tap on his back for this unprofessional attitude. If it were yellow for Declan for ‘delaying’ the free kick, it should be red for Veltman for kicking Declan on purpose.

Same thing happened between Jesus and Mosquera in our game against Wolves. The pervert centre back grabbed our striker by the buttocks. Shoving him almost to the turf. Which he rightly reacted to. Only to be served yellow by Gillet who still saw same Mosquera almost choke Havertz to the floor in early minutes of the game.

It is high time Arteta realized that games are not only won from the pitch. Arsenal must put special efforts on the board as much as they have on the block if the PL silverware must set its foot at Emirates.
