THINGS EVERY WOMAN MUST LEARN IN HER 20s AND 30s

Being a woman is not beans.

It seems everyone expects something from you!

Especially in your 20s and 30s, when life is both sweet and somehow at the same time.

You’re expected to look good, act nice, build a career, get married, raise children, start a business, post online, be prayerful, everything.

Here are things every woman must learn early so life doesn’t use you to catch cruise.

1. You are not here to impress anybody.

You were not born to please people.
You were not sent to this earth to keep everyone comfortable while you’re dying in silence.

You don’t have to shrink your voice so others won’t feel threatened.

You don’t have to dull your shine so nobody thinks you’re “doing too much.”

You don’t have to say “yes” when your soul is screaming “NO.”

You’re not a doormat. You’re not a people-pleasing robot.

2. Your Self-worth is not tied to your relationship status.

Single, married.

It doesn’t reduce your value.
Stop waiting to be a “Mrs” to feel valid. You were complete before any title.

3. You will outgrow people, and that’s okay.

Some friendships won’t follow you into your next season.

Don’t force what God is trying to release.
Growth is lonely, but necessary.

4. Learn how to make your own money.

There’s a type of confidence that comes with having your money.

Know how to sell. Learn digital skills. Build an online brand.

Wealth is not gender based.

5. Take care of your mind.

Life is already hard.

Don’t let your thoughts add extra weight.
Go to therapy if needed.

Pray. Rest.

Protect your mental space like you protect your phone.

6. Stop waiting for permission.

Launch that business. Write that book. Host that event.
Some of us were raised to be small, break that curse.

7. God is your anchor.

You’ll need Him in your winning seasons and your weeping seasons.

Don’t try to do life without your source.

Grace will take you where hustle can’t.

8. Quit waiting to be rescued.

Be your own rescue plan.
Stop waiting to be picked. Pick yourself. Show up. Build. Win.

Take charge.
It’s your time.

RED FLAGS IN A RELATIONSHIP ARE WARNINGS, NOT DECORATIONS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

My Darlyn,
In today’s World, Relationships can feel more Exhausting than Caring for a Sick Person or Hunting for a Job. Many women Unknowingly Overburden themselves by Overlooking RED FLAGS, hoping things will “GET BETTER.” But Naivety in the Face of Danger is not Strength, it’s Self-Sabotage.

Below are examples of the effects of IGNORING RED FLAGS in your Relationship❌

1️⃣ PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY RED FLAGS🧏🏾‍♀️😳

The Subtle Signs of Disrespect, Manipulation, Dishonesty, or Neglect YOU NOTICE aren’t Coincidences. Inoring them in the hope of Peace only Delays the Inevitable and Amplifies the Harm.

2️⃣ CONFRONT ISSUES EARLY🫵🏾🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏽‍♀️

Procrastinating on addressing EED FLAGS often Leads to Emotional Devastation.
What you Tolerate Today may become a Full-Blown Crisis Tomorrow, one that could take Years to Recover from, if you ever would🤦🏾‍♀️

3️⃣ YOUR WORTH IS NON- NEGOTIABLE🙅🏾💁🏾‍♀️

Stop Excusing Poor Behavior or Clinging to Potential. A Healthy Relationship Builds You Up, not Wears You Out. Prioritize Self-Awareness and have the Courage to WALK AWAY from anything that Dims your Light.

4️⃣ RIPPLE EFFECTS🙆🏾‍♀️💁🏾

Your Choices don’t exist in Isolation. Staying in a Harmful Relationship can affect the way others Perceive Love and Respect, especially if children, family, or close friends are involved.

It also sets a Precedent for what you’ll Accept in Future Relationships, making it harder to Break Free from Toxic patterns.

5️⃣ EMOTIONAL DRAIN🙇🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♀️🧏🏾‍♀️

Ignoring Toxic Behaviors like Manipulation, Disrespect, or Inconsistency creates constant Stress and Insecurity.
You may find Yourself walking on Eggshells, Overthinking, or Doubting Your Own Value.
This Emotional Exhaustion can lead to Anxiety, Depression, or Burnout.

6️⃣ Compromised Growth

When you Invest Energy into Fixing or Tolerating an Unhealthy Relationship, you lose focus on your Own Dreams, Goals, and Self-Improvement.

A toxic Partner often Limits your Ability to Flourish, keeping you Stuck in a Cycle of Negativity and Dependence.

7️⃣ THE BOTTOM LINE🚶🏾‍♀️🧏🏾‍♀️

Red Flags are early Signs urging you to Protect your Peace, Dignity, and Future. Address them, Set Boundaries, and, if Needed, Walk Away.
Your Well-Being is Worth far more than Staying in a Situation that Dims your Light.

Ladies, being Vigilant and Decisive in Relationships isn’t being “TOO MUCH”, it’s Protecting your Peace, Dignity, and Future.

STOP GIVING BLIND EYE TO A RED FLAG UNTIL IT TURNS INTO A RED SEA!!!

When You Know Better, You Will Be Able to do Better!!

Do Not Be Like Annie:

Annie, oh Annie! The name echoes across conversations, a cautionary tale for women everywhere.

Annie Macaulay-Idibia, married to 2Baba, one of the most celebrated African musicians of our generation, has a story that should be a lesson to us all. Her marriage, though adorned with fame and status, has become her greatest predicament.

Annie married her first love - the man who, as she openly shared on Young, Famous & African (Season 1), was the first she had ever been with, the one who took her virginity.

Society might assume this is every man’s dream: a woman whose love and loyalty began and ended with him. But as the Sierra Leonean proverb goes, “Not all that glitters is gold.” Oh, how true this rings in Annie’s tale.

She was there before the fame, before the awards, before the world knew his name. Yet, despite her devotion, Annie wasn’t the mother of his first child or even his second.

While she stood by his side, 2Baba fathered children with two other women. Still, Annie stayed. “Ride or die,” they say. But at what cost?

When 2Baba finally married Annie, the world erupted with headlines. “She’s won the prize!” they declared. “She’s the embodiment of a virtuous woman!” But, let’s face it….bollocks, if you ask me.

“The goat that follows a lion will end up in the lion’s belly,” and Annie’s blind loyalty has come at the expense of her dignity, her mental health, and her sense of self.

In Young, Famous & African, 2Baba himself admitted he’s afraid of how Annie loves him, describing a dependence so deep that it consumes her.

Without 2Baba, Annie’s world crumbles, she doesn’t know who she is beyond her role as his wife.

As the proverb warns, “A bird that ties its wings to another bird can never fly on its own.” Annie has bound her identity entirely to her marriage, leaving nothing for herself.

Annie idolises 2Baba, treating him as a god in her universe. She expects everyone to see him through her eyes, and if they don’t, she’ll “bring the sky down on their heads.”

She fights to present an image of a perfect marriage, though deep down she knows the cracks are too wide to hide. Her entire existence revolves around proving that her union with 2Baba is a success, even as it drains her soul.

For over a decade, Annie has lived in this cycle. She stalks him when they’re apart, unable to trust or find peace.

Her mental health has spiralled, leaving her unable to hold herself together.

She’s become narcissistic, constantly seeking attention and playing the victim. But these behaviours stem from an emptiness inside her, a void she cannot fill. As the saying goes, “An empty bag cannot stand.”

That marriage is diminishing her. It’s robbing her of her self-esteem, her peace, and her identity. Annie needs help - desperately.

A Word to Women:

Do not base your relationships or marriages on proving a point. Do not stay with someone just to fulfil society’s expectations or to maintain a façade of “couple goals.”

As the Sierra Leonean proverb wisely says, “No one tests the depth of a river with both feet.” Choose relationships that nurture you, not ones that drown you.

Ride, yes - but die for what? Love is meant to build, not break. Let Annie’s story serve as a reminder:
Do not be like Annie Macaulay-Idibia.
