JUBA – Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny has dismissed widespread rumors alleging that Ambassador Garang Deng Aguer is set to be arrested, stating that no warrant has been issued against him. Ateny was responding to social media rumors that youths having been mobiling themselvies and spent the night at Garang’s residence to prevent any possible arrest.

He said such actions were unnecessary, stressing that if authorities had issued a warrant, no group could stop law enforcement from carrying it out. Ateny noted that even a former spy chief who led the country’s most powerful security agency for 13 years was arrested when required, asking, “Who is Garang Deng Aguer not to be arrested if the law demands it?”
