Activation is the βAHAβ moment. This funnel phase is where most digital marketing agencies stop. This is where Activation comes into play. In this phase, people discover how valuable your product or service is and how much it can improve their lives.
See, itβs not enough to get sign-ups. Whatβs the point if users install an app but dislike using it each time?
Some popular βAHAβ moments examples:
Facebook β a user connects with 10 people within the first 7 days of sign-up. It pushes early product adoption and the engagement from gaining 10 βnewβ friends each week encourages long-term use.
Twitter (X) β a user follows 30 users, with at least 1/3 of them following back. Similar to Facebook, the engagement from gaining followers encourages long-term use.
Slack β a team sends 2000 messages in a workspace. This is a great example, different from the ones above. Itβs safe to say that after exchanging 2000 messages, the users already adopted the product and see its value.

Acquisition is when strangers become friends.
After building awareness, you want to find which channels drive visitors to your product. In this phase, they become members, they sign up for a newsletter, or install an app.
A great framework for finding your business's best channels for acquiring clients is the Bullseye Framework. It involves three circles:
1οΈβ£ The Inner Ring: here you add the channels that bring the most results and are currently working for you
2οΈβ£ The Middle Ring: here you add promising channels that might start working
3οΈβ£ The Outer Ring: here you add the least promising channels; they might work, but donβt bring immediate results
When creating this, focus on conversion rate and customer acquisition cost (aka CAC). One channel might have a high conversion rate, but if the customer acquisition cost is too high, you can either optimize it (by working on the offer, copy, design, etc.) or choose another channel.
