Would you like to visit Valencia? ✨
Valencia is is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third-largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. The original Latin name of the city was Valentia, meaning "strength" or "valour", due to the Roman practice of recognising the valour of former Roman soldiers after a war. By gradual sound changes, Valentia has become Valencia in Castilian and València in Valencian; this latter has been the only official name of the city since 2017.
🏛 Monument and places of interest
-The Cathedral, the Baroque Puerta del Los Hierros, the Romanesque Puerta del Palau and the Gothic Puerta de los Apostoles are the three entrances to the Cathedral of Valencia: a synthesis of the entire architectural history of the city.
-The City of Arts and Sciences; this latter contains five spectacular attractions: the Oceanografic, the Umbracle, the Palace of Arts, the Science Museum and the Hemisfèric. The City of Arts and Sciences is an unmissable attraction!
-La Lonja de la Seda (Silk Market), in 1996 it was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, as one of the most beautiful and best preserved examples of late Gothic architecture in Europe. It’s wonderful!
-The Central Market is a tangle of colors, smells and flavors, a jewel of modernist architecture.
🍲Typical cusine
Valencia is known for its gastronomic culture. The paella (a simmered rice dish with meat, usually chicken or rabbit, or seafood) was born in Valencia. Other traditional dishes of Valencian gastronomy includes "fideuà", "arròs a banda", "arròs negre" (black rice), "fartons", "bunyols", the Spanish omelette, "pinchos" or "tapas" and "calamares"(squid). Mouth-watering!
