Weight training once a week is better than nothing. Twice a week is good. Three times a week is excellent!
Add some walking and eating nourishing foods to the equation, and you will enjoy the health and aesthetic benefits.
But it has to be done for the rest of your life.

When I posted about weight loss, it's important that you realize that
weight alone is not the most important factor. My focus is ALWAYS fat loss, while keeping my muscles.
There are 3 real ways of knowing you lost fat:
1) Tape measurements. If you lose cms, you are losing fat.
2) Pictures or the mirror. I recommend my clients to take before pictures when they start, and to do it every month.
3) The way your clothes fit. If they fit better, you probably lost fat.

A few days ago, a client told me that social media was affecting her in a bad way. She said all she sees are happy people, with perfect marriages, kids, jobs. They all seem to have it all together.
I know I have talked about this before here, but I had to ask if she actually believed those people's lives were perfect.
We normally only post good things.
As a health professional, I post things that I think can contribute to people's health and well-being.
But I don't post about my problems! No one cares!
If you also feel that social media is making you feel bad, I would suggest unfollowing those people or taking a break altogether.
Just a thought.
