Ibn Shubrumah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
“If it pleases you to be magnified in the eyes of those in whose eyes you were little, or it pleases you to belittle in your eyes those who were big in them, then learn Arabic; For it emboldens you with logic, and brings you close to the authority.

This is a poem by one of the greatest scholars of Islam, Imam Shafee. He humbly said:
أحب الصالحين ولست منهم
I like rightous people though I am not among them,

لعلي أن أنال بهم شفاعة
Hoping that I will get intercession from them (on the day of judgement)

وأكره من تجارته المعاصي
And I dislike who’s trading with sins,

وإن كنا سواء في البضاعة
even though we (me and those who trade with sins) have equally the same goods (i.e. I am a sinner like them)

Whatever your concern is too much; Keep your daily (Al-Wird) certain portion of the Qur'an, it's the compass that corrects the course of your heart in the mazes of this life
