El pasado sábado estuve tocando musiquita darks para Titereteo Playero en el barrio la Playa de Ponce en la Plaza Moca. Allí se reúnen los fingerboarders de Títere Academy y organizaron un evento familiar con BBQ, competencia de niñes, pintura en vivo, vendedores, bandas en vivo y este servidor como DJ. Muches de esta comunidad son rockerxs y skaters. Monté un playlist inspirado en estas subculturas que he interactuado, trayendo una variedad de géneros dentro del rock como el punk, ska, hardcore, metal y otros con un poco de gotikeo y cositas noventosas. Cuando se acabó ese playlist, puse el que toqué para WGD. Happy World Goth Day to all those lovely creatures of the night. Here's a flashback to a Luisa Casati inspired photo shoot. When I was researching goth history for my thesis, her name popped up as a reference that inspired the vamp look worn by the actress Theda Bara.

I had researched the marchesa Casati for a fashion design class and fell in love with her. She was a unique character in history that influenced artists, writers, designers, and more. A true eccentric worthy of a biopic or mini series. Some have called her gothic and I can see why, everything about her was nonconformist, but she was obsessed with beauty and extravagance which led to her being penniless. But even in her last days she'd wear her fake eyelashes, black kohl around her eyes, and red lips. As I delved deeper into my research I found several citations that included Luisa Casati as an inspiration for 20th century goth aesthetic. I wanted to pay homage to her with this look. She was known for sometimes wearing horns and wigs. Her lover Gabriele D'Annnunzio called her Koré, after the Greek goddess Persephone because to him she was a force of creation as well as destruction, the duality of life and death. That's the theme I was going for in this set which I later used as reference for a series of paintings and other media like printmaking and stickers. I have a few available for sale.
