The lawyer for the former DG ISI, Lieutenant General (Retired) Faiz Hameed, has confirmed that an appeal has been filed against the sentence handed down by a military court, though he refrained from sharing specific details.
​According to a private TV channel, Faiz Hameed was found guilty by a military court on December 11 on four counts including:
​Violation of official secrecy laws
​Involvement in political activities
​Abuse of authority
​Causing harm to others
​He was sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. Under Section 133-B of the Pakistan Army Act, he was granted a 40-day grace period following the verdict of the Field General Court Martial to file an appeal against the decision.
The appeal is first heard in a Court of Appeals, which is headed by a Major General or an officer of higher rank nominated by the Army Chief. Subsequently, the Army Chief holds the authority to confirm, modify, or annul the sentence.
​On December 11, 2025, while announcing the sentence, the military's public relations wing (ISPR) stated in a press release that Field General Court Martial proceedings against Faiz Hameed were initiated on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act. These proceedings spanned over 15 months. After a lengthy legal process, the accused was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.
​According to the ISPR, the convicted officer's alleged involvement with political elements to create political chaos and instability, along with certain other matters, is being investigated separately.
​In its statement, the ISPR referred to him as "Faiz Hameed, former Lieutenant General," which created the impression that his military rank might have been withdrawn; however, the ISPR did not explicitly confirm this.
​Faiz Hameed retired in November 2022. He is the first former DG ISI and the second three-star general in Pakistan's history to be sentenced to prison following a full military trial.
​The case originated from allegations by property developer Kunwar Moeez Khan, who claimed that in 2017, then-Major General Faiz Hameed and two other officers raided his home and offices, seized valuables, and coerced him into paying 40 million rupees and providing financial support to a private TV channel. The matter resurfaced in 2023 when the Supreme Court advised the complainant to pursue legal action through the Ministry of Defence, leading to the formal military inquiry.

More than 40 U.S. states have leveled allegations against the company, claiming its social media platforms are negatively impacting the mental health of youth, leading to discussions about introducing stricter regulations.
​To protect young people, Meta has already introduced "Teen Accounts," which automatically enforce strict privacy settings. In these accounts, messages from strangers, sensitive content, and access to harmful activities are restricted to provide a safer environment for underage users.
​According to experts, if Meta fails to restore the confidence of young users, it could face even stricter regulations in the future, including feature bans or mandatory age verification laws.
