ESOLS Computer Controlled Saturation Pressure Unit consists of a water boiler, including a computer controlled immersion heating element, and a sight glass to observe the boiling patterns in the water surface and control the water level in the boiler.
The saturated steam formed in the boiler passes through a throttle valve and is expanded to atmospheric pressure in a throttling calorimeter with the purpose of determining the dryness fraction of the saturated steam.
The temperature and pressure are measured after the boiler to determine the properties of the saturated steam, and after the expansion in the throttling calorimeter. In addition, a force
sensor measures the weight of the condensed water.

ESOLS Digital Polariscope for Photoelastic experiments with a transmission polariscope for quantitative measurements and for demonstrating complex stress states.

Sag and Tension (Hanging Rope) Apparatus (SMT-MM-114) is designed to study the tension developed in different sections of a hanging rope when loaded at a single point, using both experimental and analytical methods. The wall-mounted setup features a dual triangular frame that demonstrates the behaviour of a rope under applied forces. A cord passes over adjustable pulleys, allowing variation of the suspension angle, while spring balances measure the tension on each side. Suspended weights apply the load, helping students clearly observe the relationship between force, tension, and geometry.

The ESOLS Flow Measurement Methods Apparatus (SMT-FM-20) is designed to demonstrate and compare different techniques for measuring flow rate using various instruments. The unit includes a Venturi meter, an or***ce plate meter, and a rotameter, all constructed from durable PMMA, and applies Bernoulli’s principle to each measurement method. An eight-tube manometer is provided to record the pressure distribution across the Venturi nozzle and the or***ce plate, allowing for a clear understanding of fluid behavior. The apparatus is designed to be mounted securely on the SMT-FM-100 base module, which supplies water and measures flow rate, though it can also be operated directly using a standard laboratory water supply. This setup provides students with practical experience in analyzing and comparing flow measurement methods commonly used in fluid mechanics.
