To write on this forum had always been a dream. There was a time when I used to read posts and always think that one day there will be a post that reads 'The Journey of Yuman Azhar'.

To many, my story might not be any differrent but to me, it is unique. It is one of struggle, of patience and of immense gratitude to Allah Almighty. To start with, my story goes back to almost 13 years. On 14th August 2006, at the High Commission of Pakistan in Bangladesh, I got inspired by a CSP and there at that moment I decided to become the Foreign Ambassador of Pakistan. For a young girl, a career path was set but for the same adult it was difficult to achieve. I did my O'Levels and then Intermediate, thinking that Economics and the like subjects would help me excel. I topped BISE Sargodha with a gold medal and was among the top 32 students of Pakistan who visited the universities of Oman, Europe and UK as the 'Walking Ambassador of Pakistan'. The association of the name Ambassador was enough to motivate me more towards CSS. It was there at the High Commision in London that I was asked to present a shield to the High Commission when I told him "Sir, one day I'll replace you and be the High Commissioner here". (LOL ! I actually said that 😂).

Moving further I did BBA Hons. with again a gold medal and a distinction of 4/4 CGPA. With such a brilliant academic background, I thought now was the right time to go for CSS. It was October when I started my preparation. Though it was not before January when I got to know that I had been doing it the wrong way. Disappointed, Yes! Demotivated, No! I sat for the exam and despite knowing that the chances were low, I waited for a miracle to happen. If you now think that I qualified the written exam, you are wrong. I fell short of 8 marks. After a whole year I was standing where I was a year ago. My colleagues and friends had achieved much during this year but I was still empty-handed. October was again ending and time was too short to prepare as I hadn't touched a book since February. Yet I started my preparation again promising myself that this time the paper has to be of the 'Topper Yuman' (thats what people used to say). The day the written result came out, I cried a whole hour straight (no intervals, no pauses😂). I had qualified! But the most amazing was the final result. I got Foreign Services of Pakistan. And how everyone congratulated me was: 'Congratulations Foreign

I got what I longed for, for so many years. It was not only my struggle. It was the struggle of my family and all those who became a part of my journey. That happiness I saw my parents' in, was irreplaceable. During all this period one verse of the Quran kept me in peace: "And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied". (93:5)

There had been times of disappointment but never had I let myself think that I could not do it. Thats what my Baba says 'if one can do it, you can too'. I do not know whether I was hard working or lucky but I know one thing that the Almighty had been much kind to me.

Now that I am in CSA, I see a heavy burden on my shoulders. A burden that is full of responsiblities, of proving myself capable of the position, of not letting my people down and serving my countrymen in every capacity possible.
