Ahead of Basant 2026, the sale of kites and kite strings in Lahore has seen a booming start. On the first day, business amounted to approximately PKR 160 million, with around 400,000 kites sold. Large kites generated around PKR 100 million, medium-sized kites PKR 30 million, and small kites PKR 10 million in revenue.
Sales continued to rise on the second day, reaching approximately PKR 180 million, bringing the total business over the two days to PKR 340 million.
Legal sales of kites and strings began on February 1, 2026, with 2,246 registered traders permitted to sell in Lahore.
