Hey 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 ! Ever wondered when to recommend insulin therapy for type 2 diabetes?

Here’s the gist:

1. If a patient’s HbA1c is high (like above 9%) but there are 𝙣𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙨𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚, start with oral meds (metformin first, then combine as needed).
2. If there’s 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, keep monitoring closely – if no improvement after a few months, then consider insulin.
3. If the patient is obese with 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 HbA1c (>8.5% for a year) and oral meds fail, time for insulin therapy!

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: Dose carefully! Insulin is powerful but can be dangerous if mishandled. Learn the types (rapid, short, intermediate, long-acting) and always calculate the dose individually.*
