The UN Human Rights Office voiced grave concerns over Pakistan’s recently adopted constitutional amendments during a bi-weekly press briefing in Geneva on Friday (28 Nov).

UN spokesperson Jeremy Laurence warned that the amendments — passed without broad consultation with legal experts or civil society — could significantly undermine judicial independence, weaken military accountability, and erode the separation of powers essential to the rule of law.
